Spring in Whistler
Spring: No longer a secret
Spring used to be one of Whistler’s dead seasons, but it has recently become one of the busiest and most popular seasons. For good reason… Where else can you golf early morning, ski late morning, and ride your bike in the afternoon - all without getting in a car. Long gone are the days of $50/ night hotel specials during the spring months - prices don’t cool down as the weather heats up.
Spring Pros:
Aside from hiking and biking the high alpine, almost every Whistler activity is at your disposal
Everyone comes out of winter hibernation and vibes are generally high
Bike park opening - Aka “Whistmas”
The best time of year to see a bear in the valley
Spring Cons:
Long weekends can get crazy busy
The weather can change very quickly - sometimes for the best, sometimes for the worse
If you are used to “cheap” spring in Whistler. it unfortunately doesn’t exist anymore
Top Tips
Don’t come on a long weekend unless you really have to
Buy a pass product ahead of time
Goretex, goretex, goretex.
Expect changing weather. It can snow, rain, then go bluebird all in one day.
There is often a great spring events calendar and dead-season dining deals to be had
Pay attention to which mountain is staying open longer. One mountain typically closes earlier than the other. i.e you won’t want to book lodging in Creekside if Whistler closes at the end of April and you have to ski Blackcomb.
