Summer in Whistler
The Biggest season of the year
Whistler was made famous by winter, but in recent years summer has become the number one season. Ironically, you can find refuge from the crowds in the valley by going up the mountain - hard to imagine for anyone who has been here in the winter. A favourite weekend escape for the Lower Mainland and Pacific Northwest, you’ll find busy beaches, packed patios, and an events calendar that keeps the parking lots full all summer long. It’s usually when the locals leave town, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t still plenty of awesome things to do.
Summer Pros:
A nice summer day in Whistler is hard to beat
There is lots of space to escape the crowds
The summer concert series
Crankworx
Summer Cons:
Wildfire smoke continues to be unpredictable but more prevalent.
The crowds are unpredictable. Unlike winter where everyone is trying to do the same thing, summer is more spread out. You never know if you’ll get an empty beach or a packed beach. The same goes for traffic,
The mountain biking can be incredibly challenging
Top Tips
Walk, bike, or take the bus to the beach. Parking is tight and unnecessary.
Whistler Blackcomb might seem like a tourist trap, but the hiking and sightseeing up there is worth the effort.
Don’t be fooled into thinking that the temperature in the morning will be the temperature all day. Layer appropriately fore the forecast.
